Stakeholders including over 76 aspirants for the State and National Houses of Assembly elections under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra state on Sunday demanded the suspension of three key national officers of the party over their role in the controversial three-man ward delegates Congress in the state.

Specifically, they called for the suspension of the PDP’s National Legal Adviser, Barrister Ajibade Adeyemi for alleged  unethical conduct and breach of his oath of office.

The members in their hundreds thronged the party’s secretariat at Udoka Estate, Awka the state capital also  accused popular businessman and PDP BoT member Chief Chris Uba and Chief Linus Ukachukwu of alleged anti party activities during and after the conduct of the 3-man ward delegate Congress of the party.

In a communique signed by the twenty one local governments executive committee of the party led by Bar Uchenna Obiora and over 76 State and National Assembly aspirants led by the Minority Leader of the Anambra state House of Assembly Mr Onyebuchi Offor,  they called on the National Chairman of the party, Prof. Iyorchia Ayu, to urgently wade into the matter before it becomes too late.

“We urge the National Chairman and all members of the NWC, to forthwith suspend the National Legal Adviser, Ajibade Adeyemi (SAN) for his clear and manifest unethical conduct and breach of his oath of office, as the NWC needs to exonerate themselves from all actions of the National Legal Adviser.”

They are also asking the national body of the PDP “To forthwith conclude the State Congress in Anambra State, before the National Convention, having concluded and ratified the wards and LGA Congresses and same having been affirmed by a final Judgment of a High Court of Anambra State, and same being the list of excos as monitored and certified by INEC to avoid already threatened litigation that may emanate or arise from such exclusion and suppression of delegates from Anambra State.”

Onyebuchi Offor said the activities of Chris Uba and Chief Linus Ukachukwu against the party are allegedly being sponsored by the governor of Rivers state and Presidential aspirant of the party Chief Nyesom Wike.

The Aggrieved PDP members stated that, “The person behind this thing is the Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike who is using Chief Chris Uba and Chief Linus Ukachukwu to destabilize the party and to make sure that there will be no Primaries in the party and we will not field candidates for the 2023 general elections.”

“The National leadership of the party should call them to order before things get out of hand and if we do not have candidates for this election that would mean the end of the PDP in Anambra state; he said.

But in his reaction on behalf of Uba and Wike, Chief Linus Ukachukwu in a telephone interview said that those accusing him and others are not PDP members but defectors from the APC who have come to seek tickets for the election.

He maintained that they cannot win election and that even if they win, they would return to their former party.

He further said that he is for a  President of  Nigeria of Southeast Igbo extraction.

He added also that Chief Wike is an Igbo man and that when it comes to an Igbo man becoming the President of Nigeria Wike is qualified and not those people claiming to be contesting for Presidency.
