By Tom Garba, Yola – A high Court sitting in  Yola presided over by Justice Nathan Musa has granted bail to the convicted former Gov Bala James Ngilari to the sum of N100 million.

Ruling on the bail application filed by counsel to the convict Obed Wadzani, on the ground of his deteriorating health status Justice Musa said it is constitutional to grant the bail on the condition that the former Governor should provide two sureties who will deposit certificate of occupancy, C of O, of a property worth 50,000 Million Naira each before the court.

The court also ruled that the former governor while traveling must inform the court of his whereabout otherwise it will lead to a court contempt.

The bail application was supported by an affidavit and medical documents by the former Governor’s wife, Mrs Hanatu Ngilari

Commenting on the issue, the Adamawa State Attorney General, Bala Sanga described the judgement as a Black market judgement, as according to him, ill health simply put, does not amount to except circumstances for bail but vowed to proceed for an appeal.

Also reacting on the judgement, Counsel to Bala, Mr Wadzani said the State Attorney-General is at liberty to disagree with the ruling, saying the court used its discretion in favor of the appellant, Barr Bala James Ngilari within the provision of the constitution.
