Delegates at the ongoing National Conference in Abuja unanimously agreed on a proposal for death penalty for anybody found guilty of raping a minor and life imprisonment with hard labour for convict of rape.

It was also agreed that any government official guilty of embezzling public fund including pension fund  should bag life imprisonment.

The  resolutions were arrived after heated debate of  the report of the Committee on Civil Society, Labour , Youths and Sports considered chaired by Bola Ogunrinade.

Speaking on the recommendation of jail term for corrupt officials, Chairman of the Committee, Ogunrinade  said that
the Asian nations are able to fight corruption in their society because of draconian anti-corruption laws in their constitution.

In addition,Conference supported committee’s proposal of  50 years imprisonment for any judicial officer found guilty of corruption or abuse of office and loose of all official entitlements.

This is even as the Conference walk out a delegate representing NAWOJ out of the plenary session following her refusal to use her tag in the plenary of the Conference during consideration of Committee report.

In the same vein, the proposal by the Committee that government should phase-out Higher National Diploma program was rejected by Conference delegates.
