Chairman of the ongoing National Conference, Justice Idris Kutigi, said Thursday that any delegate who fails to attend plenary session from Monday next week would forfeit sitting allowance unless for medical reason.

Kutigi who expressed dissatisfaction with the lackluster attitude of delegates to plenary session said 50 percent of delegates are not seats to contribute to the debate.

Speaking on behalf of the chairman, Deputy Chairman of National Conference, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, advised delegates not to force the leadership of Conference to treat them as school children.

The Former Minister said as from Monday next week any delegate who fails to appear at the plenary session will definitely loose his or her sitting allowance.

He lamented that more than half of the conference delegates did not show up for debates, adding that they should consider no payment of allowance to any delegate who fails to come to plenary.

According to him,”we are all adults, we don’t want to treat ourselves like school children, from Monday, any delegate that does not show up will not be paid sitting allowance unless for medical reason.”

However, the verdict on absent delegates was welcomed by all delegates present at plenary session.
