CAN Condemns Plateau Killings, Seeks Justice For Victims

News Investigators/ The Plateau Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned the killing of residents at Angwan Rukuba Community of Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Dunka Gomwalk, the Chairman of CAN in the state, condemned the killing in a statement on Tuesday in Jos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that yet to be identified gunmen, on Sunday night attacked the community, killed some persons and injured others.

Mr Gomwalk, while calling for justice for the victims, urged security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter.

“CAN strongly condemns the barbaric, heinous and terrorist attack on innocent citizens in Angwan Rukuba community that left 27 persons dead including a pregnant woman.

“CAN demands justice for the victims and their families and calls on the government and spirited individuals to come to the aid of those hospitalised as well as the families of the bereaved.

“We are also calling for a thorough investigation into this painful, needless and unfortunate incident to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of this crime, and make them face the full wrath of the law,” Gomwalk said.

The chairman appealed for calm and restraint in the community, and urged citizens to be law abiding and support the security agencies to restore normalcy to the area.
