CAF DOCTOR SLUMPS, DIES IN ABUJA

…AS EAGLES FAILED TO FLY TO QATAR 2022 WORLD CUP

The Confederation of African Football (Doctor, Joseph Kabungo, has died in Abuja, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Tuesday night.

The CAF doping officer for the Nigeria vs Ghana 2022 World Cup second leg play-off, Kabungo allegedly slumped and died instantly.

According to an eyewitness account the Zambian citizen died as a result of the stampede that occurred after the game.

The fans invaded the pitch after the match ended draw in favour of Ghanian National team, which qualified for the 2022, FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Meanwhile, there’s confusion over the death of the doctor, as his death may placed Nigeria on the FIFA’s blacklist, which may attract sanction.

The Network gathered that the Nigeria Football Federation is still investigating the tragedy and are yet to make official statement on it.

The CAF is also to react to the incident while Kabungo’s family, the Zambia FA and the Government of Zambia have been contacted.

According to a soccer analyst and BBC journalist, Osasu Obayiuwana, the death of the doctor is going to be a terrible experience for Nigeria.

“His name is Dr Joseph Kabungo from Zambia. He was on duty as Doping officer. He collapsed suddenly and died. Cause of death not confirmed yet. His family, the Zambia FA and the government of Zambia have been duly informed.

“If the death of Zambian doctor Dr Joseph Kabungo at the Abuja stadium was caused by being attacked by the Nigerian fans who invaded the pitch, after the Super Eagles lost the FIFA World Cup ticket to Ghana Blackstars, the Nigeria Football Federation would be in terrible trouble with FIFA.” Obayiuwana, stated.

The Nigeria National team, the Super Eagles will not be at the 2022 World Cup, as they failed to qualify after drawing with the Black Stars of Ghana, on away goal aggregate.
