By Nuel Suji – The Presidency has directed the immediate disengagement of a fugitive former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) from the Civil Service.

The Presidency, in a statement with Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, also ordered probe into the circumstances of Mr. Maina’s reinstatement to the Service.

The former PRTT chairman had been a fugitive of law after he was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) over allegation of massive fraud at the Pension Commission.

An online media had reported the curious return of Mr. Maina and his re-emergence in the Ministry of Interior.

Mr. Adesina, in the statement, said the President directed that the probe report be submitted to the Office of Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari before the close of work on Monday.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the immediate disengagement from service of Mr Abdullahi Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms,” the statement read.

“In a memo to the head of the civil service of the federation, the president equally demanded a full report of the circumstances of Maina’s recall and posting to the ministry of interior.

“The report is to be submitted to the office of the chief of staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, before the end of work today, Monday, October 23, 2017.”
