BUHARI MOURNS FORMER IGP, GAMBO JIMETA

President Mohammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Gambo Jimeta.

Jimeta succeeded Etim Inyang as Inspector General of Police under the President Ibrahim Babangida regime in 1986.

Jimeta who was also a former National Security Adviser to IBB died on Thursday.

President Buhari in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant, Mr Shehu Garba, described the Adamawa-born late IGP “as a man of great courage, intellect, and a true Nigerian statesman.”

Buhari who said that Nigeria lost a great son in Jimeta’s death added that he served his country with all his strength.

He prayed for the eternal repose of the soul of the late former IGP and also prayed to God to give the family, the Government and people of Adamawa the fortitude to bear the loss.
