BUHARI MEETS UZODINMA ON WORSENING SECURITY SITUATION IN IMO 

•••ATTACKERS OF OHANAEZE’s PRESIDENT HOUSE ARRESTED –

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday met with Governor Hope Uzodinma on the worsening security situation in Imo State.
The President summoned the Governor following a violence-filled weekend in which the country home of the President General of Ohanaeze, Prof George Obiozor, Awo-Omanma, Oru East Local Governor Area of the State was burnt.


The rampaging hoodlums also attacked the Umuguma Police Station, Owerri, where two people were killed and the station touched.


The police foiled a third attack on the Omuma Police Station, the country home òf Governor Uzodinma where four of the attackers were killed by a combined team of policemen  and Department of State Services.


On Monday, schools were closed and many workers remained indoor in fear of being caught in the crossfire between security forced and the hoodlums.


With the tension on the rise, the  President summoned the Governor to provide first hand information on the security situation in the state.


As a fall out of the meeting, the President approved immediate deployment of additional operatives of the DSS, the Police and the NSCDC with more arms and ammunition for the state.


Uzodinma who spoke to journalists after the meeting said that the deliberations focused on the state of security in Imo and indeed the South East.


“Generally, it is the subject of insecurity in the South East and what is required to ensure that it is properly controlled. 

“We discussed that and he took seriously my recommendations  and indeed I tell you, he immediately gave approval to all that which includes increase in manpower of security agencies and then logistics supports ranging from additional arms and ammunitions.”  He said 


Uzodinma also said that some of arsonists who attacked the residence of the Ohanaeze leader have been arrested.


“Yes, I would have left this for the security agencies but to the best of my knowledge,  you know the second day they tempted to also burn a police station at Omuma and they were repelled and they made some arrests. 


“So it’s after interrogation by the  Security agencies that we will know.” He added
