Buhari Appoints Five Heads Of Health Parastatals

The latest appointment includes names of Nigerian specialists in diaspora.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

According to the statement, Babatunde Salako is now head of the National Institute for Medical Research. Until his appointment, Mr. Salako was the provost, College of Medicine at the University of Ibadan.

Chikwe Ihekweazu was appointed the new head of the National Centre for Disease Control, Ihekweazu is the managing partner of EpiAfric, a public health consultancy firm that focuses on Africa.

Echezona Ezeanolue was appointed the new head of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency. Until his new job, Ezeanolue is a professor of Pediatrics and Public Health at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, USA.

Sani Aliyu is to head the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA. Aliyu is a Consultant in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at Cambridge University, United Kingdom.

While Usman Yusuf is the new Head of National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS. Yusuf is a professor of Pediatrics at St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, United Sates of America.
