News Investigators/ President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Usman Alkali Baba as the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The appointment came barely two months after he elongated the tenure of former IGP Mohammed Adamu who has passed retirement age.
Mr. Baba’s appointment was announced on Twitter by the Personal Assistant to the President on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie.
Mr. Adamu was relieved of his duties while he was on an operational visit to Imo State. He has only spent about two months out of the three-month extension that the President granted him in February.
The acting IGP, who was the DIG in charge of FCIID, has been ordered to immediately manage the rising insecurity in the North East and North West regions.
