Bring Back Military Checkpoints, Lalong Tells Buhari

The governor of Plateau state, Mr. Simon Lalong has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to restore military checkpoints in the state to deter unfettered movement by terrorists.

“Today l want to appeal to Mr. President to please allow us to go back to checkpoint,” he said.

The governors also reaffirmed that the law prohibiting commercial motorcycle riders in the state is still in force, directing security agents to enforce it.

Lalong in a statement by his Director of Press and Public, Emmanuel Nanle, also condemned the attack and called for calm.

Meanwhile, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has put the death toll of the twin bomb blast that occurred Sunday night in Jos at 44, with 69 others injured.

NEMA North central Director, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Salam who spoke to journalists on Monday said the injured are already receiving treatment at various hospitals in the city.
