By Dipo Awojobi – The Senate has refused to confirm the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, as the substantive chairman of the anti-graft agency for the second time.
Senate President Bukola Saraki said with the rejection of Magu, he ceases to be Acting Chairman of the EFCC.
Saraki asked President Muhamadu Buhari to nominate another head for the anti-graft agency.
Magu had earlier appeared before the “Committee of the Whole” of the senate presided over by Senate President Bukola Saraki, where he was questioned by Senators on sundry issues including his indictment of corruption by the Department of State Security Services (DSS).
Responding to the question on DSS’ indictment, Magu said he was never given fair-hearing by the State security agency, arguing that it was against his Constitutional right to have been so indicted.
