The All Progressive Congress (APC) suffered a huge loss Thursday as six of its serving members in the Ekiti State House of Assembly defected to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
The decampee lawmakers include members from Ikole 1 and II among others constituencies of the state joined the governor Ayo Fayose on the podium as he takes his oath of office.
The APC who until now was the ruling party in the state had challenged the election of Fayose in court and was rely on its House members as plan B option to tackle the new governor.
Fayose whose inauguration is still going on announced the defection of the lawmakers at the Oba Adegbemile stadium venue of the event in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital.
The defected members were invited by the governor to the podium, as he read his address.
The governor also assured that the public would be duly informed as the situation unfold.
He added that APC has since died and buried in the state.
The event is being attended by PDP National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu and some PDP governors.
