By Nuel Suji – Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in southern part of Nigeria have zoned the Chairmanship of the party to the south west part of the country.

The stakeholders comprising of all serving and former governors, former ministers, senators and representatives from each state from south, party excos all rose from their meeting in Port Harcourt at the early hour of Friday endorsing a zoning arrangement for party positions zoned to the South by the Makarfi-led caretaker committee.

The new arrangement has disqualified PDP stalwart, Raymond Aliero Dokpesi, who is from south-south part.

Mr. Dokpesi has put up a robust campaign, canvassing for votes for the position across the length and breath of Nigeria.

His campaign train is scheduled to leave Kaduna for Kano this Friday.

Sources within his camp vowed that the decision of the stakeholders would not stop him.

“We are going ahead, notwithstanding whatever they are saying,” the source who said he was not authorized to speak to News Investigators a minute ago.

Mr. Dokpesi is gunning for the Chairmanship position alongside Debo Adeniran, a professor and for minister.

Others contesting for the plum position are Bode George, a former minister and Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State.
