The All Progressives Congress senator representing Borno Central Senatorial District in the senate, Ahmed Zannah, is dead.
Zannah, who was re-elected into the senate in the March 28 National Assembly election, died in Abuja Saturday morning after a brief illness.
The vocal ranking senator would have been inaugurated along with 108 others in the 8th National Assembly session on June 4.
Zannah’s death marked the fifth senator who had died in the 7th Senate.
Those who had died so far included, Senators Gyang Datung (PDP Plateau North) who died in 2012; Pius Ewherido (PDP Delta Central ) who died in 2013; Awaisu Kuta (PDP Niger East) who died in 2015; and Uche Chukwumerije ( PDP Abia North) who also died last month.
Meanwhile, a special valedictory service for the late Chukwumerije, who died on April 19, has been scheduled for next Wednesday.
His eldest son, Chidi had earlier told journalists that the late Chairman of the senate committee on Education would be honoured by his colleagues with the special session and that the funeral service would be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 22 while the interment will follow immediately in his compound.
