Source close to the meeting disclosed that members of the union resolved that the industrial action be extended for two more months.

According to the source, the outcome of the meeting was being drafted and would be released in a statement to the media soon.

It was learnt that students under the umbrella of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) are running out of patience and may be tempted to begin nationwide protest if the federal government/ASUU logjam persists in the next few weeks.

They warned that the country’s education system cannot be allowed to be dragged backwards given the repeated yearly strike actions by higher institutions due to government’s Iack of serious attention to the education sector.

The students reasoned that the strike has never helped them either as most students are usually compelled to undergo academic extensions for a course that usually lasts for between four to five years and in the process huge amount of money is wasted by parents and sponsors.

I’m addition, they cited wave of youth unemployment and crime in the society as most of them are now idle at home .
