By Tom Garba, Yola – Lagos based Non Governmental Organization “ Gabasawa Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation on Tuesday presented medical facilities worth hundreds of millions of naira to Adamawa Government to support the healthcare provision of victims of insurgency in the state.
Mrs. Doris Yaro, Director General of the foundation, presented the equipment to Dr. Fatima Abubakar, Adamawa Commissioner of Health in Yola
Speaking shortly, after the presentation, Yaro , said that the medical facilities donated was to bring succor to the victims of the insurgency in the state
“The Gabasawa Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation, had so far brought and donated medical facilities worth $4 Million US Dollars to Borno,Yobe and Adamawa.
“The gesture is to assist, rehabilitate and support millions of victims of insurgents in the North Eastern Nigeria.” Yaro said.
She said that the NGO had partners in United State of America where they came together and look at the critical areas of healthcare delivery that were affected by the insurgency for necessary assistance.
According to the DG, the NGO also donated clothes, Mosquito nets to assist pregnant women and children in various Internally Displaced Persons camps in the region.
She said that the aim of the donation was to re build the already backwardness medical sectors in the region through capacity building of medical personal, education and women empowerment
Responding, Dr. Fatima Abubakar, state Commissioner of Health, thanked the NGO and expressed gladness for the gigantic support.
Abubakar assured that the equipment would be judiciously used for the communities meant for.
Also in her remark, Professor, Nana Dogo, Operation Director, Victims Support Funds, said that the funds facilitated the transportation of the equipment from Lagos port to Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
