Boko Haram Attacks Adamawa, Scores Feared Dead

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram Islamist insurgents reportedly stormed Garkida, in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Sunday, killing several people in the attack.

Security sources said heavy gunfire is currently going on there even as villagers are reportedly fleeing the village, scampering for safety in bushes while some had managed to make it to nearby towns.

Some of the residents trapped in the counter-attack efforts are right now locked up in their houses.

“There is sporadic gunfire‎ going on right now, the sound is coming from all directions, we believe the military will soon calm the situation,” the sources said.

Though, csuality figure is yet unknown, the village Head of Zar community, who is a retired Wing Commander, Dauda Daniel, reported missing, while some relatives of Daniel have expressed worries that he may have been abducted by the gunmen, according to Thisday.

Adamawa state has not been spared of insurgent attacks that have been unleashed on the people of the north east Nigeria by Boko Haram.
