Benue Lawmakers Sack Speaker Kwange, Elect Titus Uba

By Ibrahim Imam – The Benue State House of Assembly Tuesday impeached the speaker, Terkimbir Kyange and replaced him with Titus Uba.

Twenty two lawmakers of the State Assembly impeached speaker after a vote of no confidence.

However, Mr. Kyange who was not in attendance during the plenary which took place at about 4pm insisted he remained the speaker.

He faulted the impeachment process which according to him did not follow due process.

Mr. Uba (Vandeikya) was elected new speaker, while Johnson Ahubi (Otukpo- Akpa) is the new deputy speaker.

The sitting lasted for 45 minutes as Richard Ujege (Konshisha Constituency) moved the motion for the impeachment of the speaker and was seconded by Antony Ogbu (Ado constituency).

Mr. Uba, ( APC member is representing Kyan constituency in Vandeikya local government .

Hon. Avine Gbum (Makurdi north) was elected the majority leader , Kester Ikyenge(Logo) Chief Whip.
