BANDITS KILL DPO, TWO OTHERS IN ZAMFARA

Terrorists have killed the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Maru Division, Kazeem Raheem.

Raheem who hails from Offa in Kwarra State was said to have led the resistance of the terrorists attack on the town in the early hours of Sunday.

A source said that the DPO was gunned down alongside two others including his orderly, Rabiu Bagobiri in the attack.

The Network gathered that the daredevil terrorists also killed the leader of a vigilante group, Shehu Chaku, and abducted several people.

Premium Times reported that the Terrorists launched an attack on the local government headquarters early on Sunday morning at 1:am after blocking the four exits of the premises.

It was reported that the terrorists invaded the town to abduct a local business man who owns a fuel station.

“What happened was that the bandits followed him (the filling station owner) when he returned from Gusau to Maru. When he reached Maru, he went straight to his house and entered before they (bandits) came.

“When they reached the house and started shooting, he hid but they got his wife. She lied to them that he was not around, but they insisted that he was around. When she stood her ground, the bandits took her away alongside the house security watchman,” a local told premium times.

The Network could not get the police spokesperson of the Zamfara State Command, Mohammed Shehu, for his reaction to the unfortunate development as the calls to his mobile telephone line did not connect.

However, a distant relative of the late police officer confirmed the sad incident saying the family had been thrown into deep sorrow.
