Bad Days For Terrorists: 300 Insurgents Killed In 2-Days Operation

Armoured VehicleThe Nigerian Defence headquarters has hinted that over 300 terrorists have been killed while a few of the Boko Haram members have been captured, and several weapons and equipment, belonging to insurgents destroyed.

Similarly, the federal government said on Wednesday, some terrorists on the run have been arrested at some Internally Displaced Centres.

Director of the National Information Centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, who brief journalists on the development in Abuja, said troops have recovered towns in Borno and many of the terrorists are now on the run.

The defence headquarters also said that mopping up operation of some communities where terrorists have been cleared in the course of ongoing air and land operations against terrorists has indicated massive casualty inflicted on them within the last two days of the counter terrorists operations.

The Military confirmed that 15 different types of armoured fighting vehicles, an anti-aircraft gun, about 50 cases of packed bombs and 8 different types of Machine Guns, 5 Rocket Propelled Grenade, 49 boxes of various types and calibres of ammunition as well as 300 motorcycles were destroyed in the fighting.

Also, a total of 6 Hilux vehicles including those mounted with anti-aircraft guns were destroyed. However, it was confirmed that two soldiers lost their lives while 10 others were wounded in the course of the operation.

Presently, the cordon and search operations are still in progress, with aggressive patrols by troops who dominate the cleared communities such as Monguno, Gabchari, Abba Jabari, Zuntur, Gajigana, Gajiram, Damakar, Kumaliwa, Bosso Wanti, Jeram and Kabrisungul.

Defence headquarters also indicated that various phases of the highly coordinated air and land operations were also ongoing in the designated theaters, being handled by contingents involved in the renewed counter terrorism campaign in and outside Nigeria.
