APC’S OYEBAMIJI WINS EKITI GUBER POLL 

The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, a former Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, has won the 2022 Ekiti State gubernatorial election.

Oyebanji scored 187,057 votes to defeat his closest challengers – Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party – who got 82,211 votes.

The Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bisi Kolawole came third in the election with 67,457 votes.

The Indepedent National Electoral Commission Returning Officer for the Election, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, (Vice Chancellor, the University of Ibadan) who announced the results returned Oyebanji as the winner and elected Governor of Ekiti State.

He declared, “Oyebanji, having scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and returned elected as the governor-elect of Ekiti State.”

There are reports that the election was characterized by a high level of vote buying and violence in some places.

However, the agent of SDP, Owoseeni Ajayi, did not sign the forms for the result of the election.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Saturday arrested some party agents for alleged involvement in vote buying during the governorship election.

The EFCC nabbed the suspects said to be working for a particular political party at Ola Oluwa Grammar School along Ilawe road Ado Ekiti.

The Network gathered that the suspects were caught on the spot with monies said to be used to buy voters when Oni, raised an alarm on the issue of inducing voters with money.

The operatives of the Commission picked up the suspects during the voting process in the morning while trying to induce voters who have come to excercise their franchise at the polling units.

It was gathered that following the alarmed made by Oni, the operatives immidiately moved to the scene and arrested the suspects and paraded and detained the suspects at the Oke Ori Omi Area Division of the Nigerian Police Force.

The operatives later moved to another polling units where some persons were caught with a book containing details of voters of certain voting area and made similar arrest.
