APC NATIONAL CHAIRMANSHIP: ASPIRANTS STEP DOWN FOR ABDULAHI ADAMU

Strong indications have emerged that six Senatorial aspirants for the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress have stepped down for President Buhari’s anointed candidate Sen Abdulahi Adamu.

The Network gathered that it took a lot of meetings and pleas for the six aspirants who bought the N20 million form to accede to the President’s demand to adopt Adamu as the consensus candidate.

Prior to the decision of the six aspirants to step down, the Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, had written the Chairman, APC election Sub Committee, to call the sub committee’s attention to the President request that Abdulahi Adamu be adopted as the consensus candidate.

“May I kindly refer to the appeal by Mr President for the chairmanship aspirants of our great party, to agree to a consensus arrangement wherein our colleague Senator Abdulahi Adamu is made our consensus candidate for the chairmanship position and forward letters of withdrawal from the under listed aspirants to wit…”

The six aspirants are Senator Tanko Al Makura, George Akume, Abdulazeez Yari, Sani Mohammed, Turaki Mustapha and Etsu Mohammed.

Meanwhile one of the aspirants Senator Sani Musa has withdrawn from the race to back Adamu as consensus candidate.

Senator Mohammed Sani Musa withdrawal from the race was confirmed constrained in a statement by his l Spokesman, Nasir Mohammed, confirmed.

“Senator Sani Musa, currently representing Niger East Senatorial District at the Nigerian Senate announced this decision after the aspirants meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari the leader of the party yesterday and 24 hours to the convention scheduled for Saturday March 26, 2022 in Abuja.

“He pledged to back Senator Abdullahi Adamu as consensus candidate for the seat in today’s convention.” The statement read
