APC Convention: 3 Dropped As Yilwatda, 21 Others Returned As NWC Members

News Investigators/ Three erstwhile members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) were dropped at the just-concluded national convention of the party, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Those who didn’t make the new team include: Deputy National Chairman (South), Hon. Emma Eneukwu, Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Duru and the National Financial Secretary, Hon. Bashir Gumel.

NAN reports that the new NWC members were elected at the national convention through affirmative votes by a total of than 8,453 delegates from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

They are expected to steer the party’s affairs for the next four years, according to its Constitution.

The newly-elected NWC members include: the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda (Plateau); Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Abubakar Dalori (Borno) and Deputy National Chairman (South),Dr Ben Nwoye (Enugu).

Others are the National Secretary, Sen. Surajudeen Basiru (Osun); Deputy National Secretary, Prof. Abdulkarim Kana (Nasarawa); National Vice-Chairman (North-Central), Mu’azu Rijau (Niger), National Vice-Chairman (North-East), Dr Mustapha Salihu (Adamawa) and National Vice-Chairman (North-West), Hon. Mohammed Datti (Kaduna).

Also elected were National Vice-Chairman (South-East), Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu (Imo); National Vice-Chairman (South-South), Chief Victor Tom Giadom (Rivers) and National Vice-Chairman (South-West), Isaac Kekemeke (Ondo).

National Legal Adviser, Muritala Kankia (Katsina), National Treasurer, Uguru Ofoke (Ebonyi), National Financial Secretary (Jigawa) and National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungun (Kebbi) were also re-elected at the convention.

NAN reports that all the deputy national officers, six national ex-officio members and  zonal officers elected at the six zonal congresses held on March 18 were also inaugurated alongside the NWC members.
