The explosion went off few minutes after President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign train was leaving venue of its campaign rally Tuesday.

Sources said the blast which occurred in a car park, on Kashere Street, 200 yards outside the stadium used for the campaign, killed a female suspected suicide bomber and another female accomplice in the vehicle.

Security situations have been tensed in Gombe, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controlled state where the incumbent, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo is facing supremacy challenge from his erstwhile political godfather, Sen. Danjuma Goje, a stalwart of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Earlier on Monday, the PDP announced the postponement of the Presidential campaign rally scheduled for Gombe, citing the Monday’s bombing which rocked Gombe and Yobe as reasons.

Eyewitness accounts put the injured figure of Tuesday blast at 18. Rescue workers and health officials later said two female suicide bombers were suspected to be responsible for the bomb attack.
