Anambra Police RescueThree Armed Robbery Suspects From Being Lynched…As CP Cautions Against Jungle Justice

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra Command, Echeng Eworo Echeng has urged Anambra citizens to refrain from engaging in jungle justice.

Echeng made the call on Tuesday following an attempt by an angry mob to set ablaze three alleged armed robbery suspects.
The timely arrival and intervention of some police operatives at the scene saved the suspects from being lynched.

The suspects are Ifeanyi Nsiegbunam ‘M’ 23years, Chinemelum Nwafor ‘M’ 27years, Nnamdi Nwakwesili ‘M’ 40yrs.

They were alleged to have on March 5 at about 10am, dispossessed a student of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam of her belongings.
“Incriminating items found and recovered from the suspects include: one locally made single barrel pistol, a white coloured dagger, a big saw, a big hammer, a black and brown coloured lady’s bag, an Infinix phone, a black Panasonic phone and three(3) phone chargers.

The CP thanked the public for the arrest of the three suspects and for their continuous assistance to the Police in the fight against crimes in the State.

However, he enjoins them to always follow the due process by handing over arrested suspects to the Police.

He noted that this would afford the Police opportunity to conduct appropriate investigation and prosecution of suspects and ensure justice.

Meanwhile, the CP has assured that the three rescued suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
