Anambra House of Assembly Majority Leader Slumps, Dies In South Africa

Anambra State House of Assembly Majority Leader, Dr Nnamdi Okafor, has reportedly slumped and died in South Africa.

Okafor, who was representing the Awka South Constituency 1 in the Assembly prior to his death, was said to be in a  legislative retreat with his colleagues in the Assembly in South Africa when the unfortunate incident occurred.

The medical doctor and pharmacist by training  doubled as the the Majority Leader of the House.

A senior officer in the assembly, who pleaded anonymity, because he  has not been authorised to announce the death, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

He said, “My brother, that’s how we heard it. It’s true. Good morning.”

Another anonymous source said, “He was said to have slumped in a hotel at Sandton City Johannesburg, South Africa on Tuesday, and was confirmed dead hours later.

A Facebook forum, APGA Interactive Forum , that published the lawmakers demise read : “Tragedy! Majority Leader, Anambra state House of Assembly, Hon Nnamdi Okafor is dead. He died in South Africa.

“News from Johannesburg says he slumped and died. He was in South Africa along with other House of Assembly members for legislative retreat. 

The late Hon Nnamdi Okafor represented Awka South I State Constituency at the state assembly. May his soul rest in peace.”
