Akwa 2015 Guber Race: Akpabio Endorsed My Candidacy – Esuene

Former Minister of Environment, Senator Helen Esuene, said on  Thursday that Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio has given her the go ahead to contest for 2015 gubernatorial race in state, saying that there is a cordial relationship between her and governor.

Senator Esuene who made this known while briefing newsmen in Abuja said, her quest to become the next governor of the state was as a result of her passion for service to the people of Akwa-Ibom state, stating that it would  also  be an avenue to serve the people of the state better .

He said,” Godfatherism is there but you know politics is very dynamic, what you see in the morning is not necessarily what you will see in the evening, I have a health relationship with Governor Akpabio and he has given the go ahead when I discuss with him.

” Am contesting because I am vest with terrain of that state, I know it very well, I know the people strength and weakness, I know the ethnic interplay and I am very confident that I will be able to build bridges and ensure peaceful co-existence among the people of the state.”

The former Minister explained further that she quite aware political terrain in the state vowed that she will ensure peace co-existence of the ethnic groups in the Akwa-Ibom.

Senator Esuene who lamented that there is no enough women in elective position in the country put the blame on the culture and also the constitution of Nigeria.
