The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been sworn in as the executive governor of Ondo state following the death of governor Rotimi Akeredolu today.
Akeredolu died in the morning of Wednesday, December 27 after a prolonged battle with prostrate cancer.
Meanwhile, Aiyedatiwa was administered the oath of office by the Chief Judge of Ondo state, Justice Olusegun Odusola
However, in his speech, the new governor said it was with a heavy heart he took over the baton of leadership of the state after the death of Akeredolu.
He said, “It is a devastating thing for us to lose our dear governor. This is a monumental loss. It is a great loss to me as an individual
Present at the ceremony were the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, members of the assembly, the secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu and the state chairman of the ruling party APC, Ade Adetimehin.
Others include members of the EXCO, political office holders and other party members.
