The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 5, Lawan Tanko Jimeta, is dead.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, made the disclosure in a WhatsApp message on Sunday.
Wakil said that the AIG died at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Edo State after a brief illness.
The ‘Zone 5’ of the Nigerian police comprises the three Niger Delta States of Edo, Delta and Bayelsa states, Lawan Tanko Jimeta is dead.

AIG Jimeta took over as AIG Zone 5 on January 13, 2022.
