Adams Oshiomhole Officially Emerged APC’s National Chairman

By Sadiq Umar – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected former Edo governor, Adams Oshiomhole, as its National Chairman.

Mr Oshiomhole’s election was confirmed through a voice vote by delegates at the Saturday National Convention in Abuja where he emerged unopposed.

Four other contenders to the chairmanship position, including out-going chairman, John Oyegun, had all stepped down to pave the way for Mr. Oshiomhole.

President Muhammadu Buhari was said to have endorsed Mr. Oshiomhole for the plum job.

The party said 18 positions were unopposed, and all were affirmed on Saturday.

The announcement was made by the chairman of the 2018 convention committee and governor of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru.

The other three aspirants for the position of APC’ national chairman are Oserhermen Osunbor, Clement Ebri, and Ibrahim Emokpaire, were initially in the race but eventually stepped down for Mr. Oshiomhole.

In his speech Saturday, Mr Oyegun wished Mr Oshiomhole well as he takes over the reins of the party’s leadership.
