Adamawa NDLEA Confiscates 497.5kg Of Cannabis

By Tom Garba, Yola – The Adamawa state Command of the Nigerian Drugs Law enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has seized cannabis weighing 497.5kilogramme.

Adamawa state Commander, Yakubu Kibo, disclosed on Tuesday at a Press briefing where he displayed 497.5 kg of Cannabis at the state headquarters in Jimeta.

The illicit drugs which were intercepted by the officers on duty along Numan -Yola road inside a white J5 Bus with  Reg.No.KTN 244 YZ traveling from Benin, Edo state to Jimeta for their illegal trade.

“During the search, a false floor was discovered to have been constructed inside the vehicle. The false floor cover was removed and behold, 418 blocks of compressed Cannabis sativa weight 343.900kg were found neatly concealed in the false compartment,” Kibo said.

He said another follow up operation was made to the exhibit owner’s house which also found to double as a warehouse and where additional 137 blocks of compressed Cannabis sativa weighing 120kg was discovered.

Toyota started with Reg. No.JMT 697 RY, Adamawa State.

He added that :”In the same view on 02/02/2017 a Toyota starlet car with Reg. No. HNG 340 KZ, Adamawa state was intercepted for a search along Mayo -Belwa -Yola road. During search, bottles of cough syrup with codeine were found inside the doors and inner compartments of the car and it weighed 47.4kg.

Given a summary of 568.910 of illicit drugs recovered from the three vehicles,four suspects were arrested and a house was sealed in connection to illicit drugs.

He advice the general public to be careful with the vehicles they board, vehicles owners and landlords should instruct their tenants and drivers for the kind of passengers and people they carry or live with.
