News Investigators/ Omar Suleiman, the governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa, has promised to provide quality education if elected in 2027.
Mr Suleiman made the promise on Friday at the 55th Graduation and Prize-Giving ceremony of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Hong.
The candidate, who described education as the ‘corner stone’ of development, promised to give all dilapidated schools in the state a face lift.
“When we assume office, we will prioritise investment in education to enable every child realise his or her full potential, regardless of their backgrounds
“Education is the foundation for sustainable development, economic growth and community transformation. We will not joke with that critical sector,”he said.
Mr Suleiman, an alumnus of the school and Chairman of the occasion, said that the school had over the years shaped his character, leadership and commitment to public service.
He urged the graduating students to embrace discipline, integrity, resilience and excellence as they prepare for higher education and future responsibilities.
The ADC candidate announced a full university scholarship for Miss Gloria Dujima, the overall best graduating female student.
He said the gesture aimed at ensuring that financial constraints does not prevent Dujima from pursuing her academic aspirations.
Also speaking, Mr Aliyu Tarfa, ADC House of Representatives candidate for Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency, pledged to register all the graduates for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
“The intervention is intended to expand access to tertiary education and encourage academic advancement among the graduating class,”he said
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the ADC candidate also visited the paramount ruler of Hong, Mr Alheri Bulus, to seek for his royal blessings.
