By Dipo Awojobi – Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have ambushed the convoy of the Acting General Officer Commanding, Seven Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu in Borno State.
He was on his way to Bama to visit troops when the incident happened on Tuesday.
Although Brigadier General Ezugwu escaped the attack, one soldier died while two others were injured.
Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman who confirmed the attack said the troops were able to clear the ambush, killing some of the terrorists and recovered vehicle and weapons from them.
He said in a statement that the Acting GOC has continued his operational visit to Bama, while the body of the late soldier and the wounded have been evacuated to Maiduguri.
