News Investigators/ Allied People’s Movement (APM) has condemned the abduction of yet to ascertained number of school children, a principal, and the killing of an assistant headteacher by gunmen in Orire Local Government area of Oyo State.
Gunmen on Friday invaded Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, LEA School, Ahoro-Esinle, and Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esinle, killing two persons and abducting a number of students, a pricipal, two vice principals and teacher.
A statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by its National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, urged security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the children and principal held by the terrorists.
He described the Friday, May 15 incident as outrageous, barbaric, heartless, and cruel.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with these children, their teachers, families, government, and the people of Oyo State in this trying time.
“Our hearts also go to the family of the assistant headteacher brutally killed, as well as the bike rider mowed down in this senseless attack.”
“Innocent children whose only offense is acquiring education for humanity deserve protection. Every life matters and should be protected,” he said.
The chairman urged security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted children and principal, reunite them with families, and ensure adequate security statewide.
The party commended Gov. Seyi Makinde’s visionary, purposeful, and transformative leadership, which fosters unity, stability, safety, and prosperity in Oyo through progressive governance.
“He should not be deterred by this cowardly terrorist attack; rather, it should spur him to greater service for the people.
“APM stands with the people of Oyo State in the quest for a strong, united, inclusive, and prosperous democratic nation,” Dantalle added
