Abducted Kagara Students, Teachers Regain Freedom

News Investigators/ The kidnapped stydents and staff of the Government Science College Kagara, Niger State, have retained freedom.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Niger governor, Mary Noel-Berje.

Earlier, the bandits also released victims that were kidnapped from the State Transport Service.

Noel-Berje, in a statement, said that a total of 27 students, three staff members and 12 members of their family were abducted after the attack on the school in the early hours of last Wednesday.

The statement explained further that the kidnapped victims are on their way to Minna, where they will be formally received by the governor.

Their release followed a negotiation brokered by the Kaduna-based Islamic cleric Abubakar Gumi.

It came on the heels of a fatal crash plane of a surveillance NAF warplane on Sunday in which 7 NAF officers lost their lives.
