30-YEAR OLD MAN BEHEADED IN BAYELSA CULT WAR

A 30-year old man identified as Honest Martin has been beheaded in a supremacy battle between rival cult groups in Bayelsa.

An indigene of the area said that the incident which occurred in Sagbama, the headquarters of the Sagbama Local Government Area of the state, involved members of Bobos, Greenlanders and Icelander cult groups on Wednesday.

It was gathered that the attackers broke into the residence of the late Martins, in the early hours of morning, cut off his head and took it away as a show of force.

The suspected cult members were said to have taken the head to the community Centre where they hung it on a tree.

The source said, “According to what we were told in the morning, the suspected cultist went to his house, and attacked him.

“The man was screaming but they killed him, cut off the head and hung it on a pole at the Centre of the town.

“We were told that the cult group was sending out a message to their rivals that they are ruthless and ready assert their supremacy At whatever cost.

The Police Public Relations Officer, in charge of the Bayelsa State Command, Asinim Butswat, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed thee grisely incident.

“On the 09/03/2022​ at about 0200 hours police operatives were informed that a suspected cultists one Honest Martin, 30 years, was found outside his house at Sagbama community beheaded by suspected rival cult group. Police operatives evacuated the corpse to St. Luke Mortuary, Sagbama. Investigation is ongoing.@
