News Investigators/ Sokonte Davies has congratulated Dr Farah Dagogo on his emergence as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers for the 2027 election.
Mr Davies, in a statement issued by his campaign team on Sunday described Mr Dagogo’s victory at the party’s primaries as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by delegates.
He commended Mr Dagogo’s perseverance, commitment to the ideals of the ADC and readiness to serve the people of Rivers.
“As members of the same political family, we recognise that the task ahead is a collective one, and we stand ready to work together for the success of the party in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
Mr Davies also declared his support and that of his supporters for former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, in his bid for the presidency in 2027.
According to him, Atiku possesses the experience, vision and national stature needed to address the country’s challenges and reposition Nigeria for economic recovery, security and inclusive growth.
“His leadership offers the unity and stability Nigeria urgently needs at this time,” he said.
Mr Davies called on ADC members, stakeholders and supporters of democracy across Rivers and the country to rally behind the party’s candidates.
He said such support was necessary for the good of the people and the future of the nation.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dagogo had earlier emerged winner of the ADC governorship primary election conducted across the 319 wards in the 23 local government areas of Rivers.
Chairman of the ADC Rivers Governorship Primary Electoral Committee, Agu Bryan, announced that Dagogo polled 64,700 votes to defeat Davies, who scored 9,050 votes.
Mr Bryan said the exercise was conducted in line with the party’s guidelines and monitored by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
