The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party Mr Peter Obi and his running mate Senator Ahmed Datti as well as members of the party’s Campaign Council will be in Anambra State today for the party’s mega rally.
This is as the All Saints Anglican Cathedral field in the commercial town of Onitsha and Awka the Anambra’ state capital wearing new look ahead of the rallies.
Also, reports emerges on Monday that the Anambra’ State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo may have extended an olive branch to the Presidential ambition of candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for next year’s election, Mr. Peter Obi.
Findings revealed that Soludo had given his nod for Obi to meet with traditional rulers drawn from the 21 local government areas and three senatorial districts of the state at the Agu Awka Government House in the capital town today (Tuesday).
A senior aide to Governor Soludo who pleaded anonymity disclosed the latest deveopment in a telephone interview with our Correspondent.
Soludo had in an unprovoked epistle, last year, said that Peter Obi would not win the 2023 Presidential elections, an outburst that pitched him against many concerned indigenes of the state and other stakeholders, particularly, supporters of the Obidient Movement, across the country.
However, Peter Obi and members of his National Campaign Council are holding rally at the All Saints Anglican Church field Onitsha.
Obi is expected to pay a courtesy visit to Governor Soludo at the Government House Awka on Tuesday with his entourage.
Soludo had also granted the LP Presidential candidate an approval to use the Government House Conference Hall and Traditional Rulers Hall for his function.
Expectedly, over 180 Support groups are to carry out solidarity match to the All Saints Anglican Church field Onitsha venue for the mega rally.
Head Media and Publicity for the Campaign Council Mr Titus Emeka Obasi who spoke to newsmen in Awka on Monday said, “The activities include three town hall meetings at the Government House Awka where he would meet with Traditional Rulers of Anambra state and then another town hall meeting with the Student Community.
“There would also be another town hall meeting with Anambra women at the All Saints Anglican Church hall which would be presided over by the Wife of the Presidential candidate Mrs Margate Obi and then the main rally proper at the All Saints Anglican church field Onitsha”.
Leader of Peter Obi Express Media (POEM) Mr Ceasar Sam’s Obidile who also spoke on behalf of the 180 Obi / Datti Support Groups said that they are expecting about five million supporters.
He added that what would be witnessed in Anambra would make other previous rallies across the country look like a dressed rehearsal .
According to him, “We are ready and we are fully prepared because this is his home and all the support groups have mobilized enough and we made enough arrangements for welfare and security”.
Director Obi / Datti Campaign Council in Anambra state Bar Jeo Martins Uzodike noted that the rally is part of the consultations and campaign for the candidate and his running mate.
“It is going to be the Mother of All Rallies. This one is that the candidate is coming home to talk to his people and we have made all the necessary arrangements to ensure a hitch free Campaign rally in Anambra state”
“The meetings with the respective bodies are part of the process and our candidate has great respect for the youths who are represented by the Nigerian students as well as the traditional institution represented by the Anambra Council of Traditional Rulers” he stated.
