Seven top officials of the State Executive Council of Delta State Government have voluntarily resigned their appointments with the state government.
Those who resigned are Basil Ganagana, Evelyn Oboro, Julius Egbedi, Jonathan Ukodhiko, Christian Onogba, Ovie Oghoore, and Chika Ossai.
It was gathered that the chief of staff, Festus Agas, later denied his purported resignation, adding that he was yet to resign from his position.
According to reports, the seven Commissioners, including the Chief of Staff to the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, resigned from the Government to pursue their ambitions in the 2023 elections.
The Network gathered resignation of the members of the State Executive Council, on Friday is believed to connected Section 84(12) of the amended electoral Act Electoral Act 2022.
According to the Act, “political appointees must resign their appointments before participating in the 2023 general elections, either as delegates or seeking elective offices”.
Last week, Okowa ordered his cabinet members who have political ambitions to resign their appointments.
