2023: Kwankwaso Dumps PDP; Forms The National Movement Party With Ex-Govs, Others

Former Governor of Kano State Sen. Alhaji Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has dumped the People’s Democratic Party.

The former Governor announced his defection from the Peooles Democratic Party (PDP) to form a new political platform, the National Movement.

Kwankwaso reportedly left the PDP with thousands of his supporters at a meeting which heralded the formation of the new ‘patriotic party.’

Members of the National Movement cuts across senior political actors, businessmen and political groups.

Among the top politicians said to Ben in the new movement are former Governor of Kogi State Captain Idris Wada, ex- Governor of Edo State Chief Lucky Igbinedion, former Governor of Kebbi State Adamu Alero, ex-governor of Jigawa state Alhaji Saminu Turaki, former Governor of Cross-river State Donald Duke and his counterpart from Cross River State Chief Liyel imoke.

Others include former Governor of Kwara State Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, former chairman of the national electoral commission Prof. Attahiru, former chairman of the support commission for Nigerian universities Dr. Abba Bichi, former Minister of Youth and Sports Barr. Solomon Dalung Professor. Pat Utomi,
Alhaji Buba Galadima, Sen. Rufai Hanga

Key actors behind the movement had met on Tuesday at the International Conference Center in Abuja to discuss major issues and strategies ahead of the 2023 elections.
