2023: AAC Presidential Candidate, Mohammed, Denies Dumping Party

By John Ugo, Awka

A new twist emerged in the race for the Presidency in 2023 as the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) Engr. Yakubu Mohammed on Monday denied dumping the party or rejected its ticket ahead of next year’s elections.

He described the report about his alleged dumping of the party as the handwork of fifth columnists who were out to use his name to cause confusion within the party.

Engr. Mohammed in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka the Anambra’ State capital noted that the said report was not authorized or authored by him, insisting that he remains the Presidential candidate of AAC party.

According to him, “My attention has been drawn to news making the round that I have jettisoned my ticket as the validly elected presidential candidate of our great party, the African Action Congress, AAC.”

“Let me state categorically that I emerged as our great party’s flag bearer after a highly competitive, transparent and inclusive primary held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 in Abuja.”

“The said report did not emanate from me nor the party as I have not authorized or delegated anybody to issue a statement on my behalf.”

“Kindly disregard the publication as it is the handiwork of mischief makers who have now come to terms that I am the presidential candidate to beat as we march towards the 2023 General Election,” he said.

“I call on both factions to unite and work together for the common goal of achieving victory at the polls next year rather than dissipating energy and costs on a needless supremacy battle.”

“We will always put our people first as I remain the validly elected presidential flag bearer of our great party and nothing has changed,” he added.
