The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has distanced himself from the  posters in different parts of the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) promoting his purported presidential bid, saying he is yet to decide on his political future.

The posters, which surfaced on the streets of Abuja at the weekend, with the caption “Our Choice 2015,″ also has the picture of the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, with a sign-off: “We have decided our choice 2015.″

The poster carries the logo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), of which Tambuwal had been rumoured to be working for, even though, both Presiding Officers belong to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

But Tambuwal, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs,  Mr. Imam Imam, thanked those who placed the posters for considering him fit for elective office, but advised them not to go against the laws of the land.

“While we thank them for deeming the Rt Hon Speaker fit for elective office in the country, let it be known that since the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not given the go-ahead for those interested in elective positions to start mobilisation, it is inappropriate for any person or group to print campaign posters and have them placed in strategic areas all over the country.

“Laws of the Federation are meant to be obeyed by the high and mighty. The Honourable Speaker will make known the direction he will take with regards to his political future at the appropriate time,” the statement added.
