17 BURNT TO DEATH AT LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY

A total of 17 people were burnt to death in an accident at the Ishara Bridge along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway on Friday.

The ghastly accident accident involved a Madza bus and a tanker.

The Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Ahmed Umar, confirmed the accident journalists in Abeokuta.

Umar confirmed that the accident involved a Mazda bus with registration number ZT 28 KLD and an unmarked tanker.

According to him the bus was heading towards Ibadan while the tanker was Lagos bound.

Umar said said that only three people: a man, a woman and a girl could be identified out of the 17 accident victims.

The FRSC Commander who attributed the accident to route violation and dangerous driving said that the it occurred around 5 am.

He stated that the vehicles had a head-on collision which ignited the fire outbreak.

However; the Section Commander could not say which of the vehicles was at fault.

Umar commiserated with the families of those lost their lives in the unfortunate accident and asked relatives to contact the FRSC office at Ogere for more information.
