BENIN CITY/By Nuel Suji –  Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has restated the commitment of the present administration towards the provision of quality public school infrastructure even as priority will be accorded to skills acquisition by government in order for a guaranteed future for the citizenry.

The Deputy Governor made this assertion at the commissioning of a block of three classrooms at Agbazi Primary School, Agbabu-Ekperi in Etsako Central Local Government – built by the member representing Etsako Central Constituency, Hon. Damian Lawani.   He noted that it was the duty of any responsible government to provide the basic necessities of life for the people.

“The present administration under Governor Godwin Obaseki is determined to consolidate on the gains of the immediate past administration of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.  This government will continue to build more schools but more importantly, we are interested in our people acquiring the necessary skills in addition to quality education so that they can have a guaranteed future.

“This community is an agrarian one, so I want our people to take advantage of the 200,000 jobs we promised to create during the electioneering campaign.  Our vision is to touch the lives of the people and make them feel the presence of government no matter the location of the community and I want to assure you that we will not fail to take Edo State to the next level because the expectations of our people from this administration are very high”.  He stressed that quality basic education is the foundation for a progressive society.

In his address, the member representing Etsako Central constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly and donor of the school project, Hon. Damian Lawani stressed that he was motivated to building the block of classroom because for a long time, the community has been neglected by successive administration.   He said the construction of the project was in fulfillment of his electioneering campaign to the people in consonance with the “eye mark” philosophy of Comrade Oshiomhole.

In a related development, the Deputy Governor also commissioned 4 blocks of 40 open stalls built by Hon. Damain Lawani  at Central Market, Ogochi-Ekperi.  In the words of Comrade Philip Shaibu, “the market project is a repayment of the debt owed the people by Hon. Lawani based on his promises and the massive vote they gave him and the APC in the last election.  Other legislators should learn to emulate him, because constituency projects serve as a bridge between government and the people”.

Addressing the people, Hon. Damian lawani stated that he felt fulfilled delivering the market project within a short period of two months.  He noted that during his electioneering campaign, he had asked the people their most pressing need and he was taken to the market where he discovered that it was built with bamboo sticks and raffia palms.”  “And I assured the people I will build a modern market for them when voted into power”.
