By Nuel Suji – A two-term senator and former senate minority whip in the 5th National Assembly, Kanti Bello is dead.
The former senator represented Katsina North Senatorial District of Katsina State.
Sen. Bello died Tuesday morning after a protracted sickness.
A statement by one Kabir Faskari confirmed the news of his demise.
“I am directed to inform everybody that we lost Senator Kanti Bello early hours of this morning (Tuesday) at Abuja. Burial arrangement will be announced later,” Mr. Faskari said in a statement.
He was a vocal senator and strong member of the ANPP during his first term in the senate.
He became a senator in 2003 and was reelected in 2007 on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr. Bello, who represented Daura Senatorial Zone between 2003-2007 and 2007-2011, was the pioneer Managing Director of Katsina Steel Rolling Mill.
He was a graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in Kaduna state and was born in 1945.
