Senator Abatemi-Usman Gives Back To Constituency

(KOGI) Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman has concluded arrangements to empower over 1,200 Nigerians selected from the five Local Government Areas in Kogi Central Senatorial District, KCSD, through his NGO, The Umajene-Abatemi Initiative (TUAI).

The epoch-making event will hold on Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Ohinoyi’s Open Field, Opp. Okene Club, Okene, Kogi State by 10am prompt, under the Distinguished Chairmanship of the Senate President, His Excellency, Senator David Mark, GCON.

In a statement signed by Mr. Michael Jegede, the Senator’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, he said: “The empowerment programme is designed in fulfilment of my campaign promises to my people to create wealth in the senatorial district, if given the mandate to represent them at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly. Upon my inauguration as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2011, I registered The Umajene-Abatemi Initiative (TUAI) as a not-for-profit vehicle through which the promise I made to promote the social and economic betterment of the underprivileged in my constituency could be fulfilled. At the launch of the empowerment programme, we will provide tangible assistance to over 1200 members of my constituency, in this first phase of the project.”

The statement further noted that over 200 people have just rounded off their training in Poultry and Fish Farming at Macks Farm Osara, Kogi State, as part of the empowerment programme initiated by Senator Abatemi-Usman to stimulate wealth creation and ensure sustainable economic growth in the District.

Some of the items to be distributed to the over 1200 beneficiaries on Monday include: vehicles (cars and buses), motorcycles, passengers and goods tricycles (popularly known as Keke NAPEP), wheelchairs and other medical equipments, agricultural materials, grinding, vulcanizing and sewing machines, generators and hairdryers/clippers, video cameras, photo cameras and printers, among many others.

Aside the Senate President, the following high-profile personalities are also expected to grace the occasion: the National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Senators, Governors, House of Representatives members, Ministers, Royal Fathers and indeed, members of the public. Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Ichalla Wada is the Chief Host, while HRH, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland is the Father of the Day.
