Senate Receives Buhari’s Letter On Leave Extension

By Sadiq Umar – The Senate on Tuesday confirmed receipt of President Muhammadu Buhari’s letter, informing it of decision to extend his earlier 10-day leave in the United Kingdom (UK) to enable him conclude his medical test.

Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Publicity Abdulahi Sabi, who spoke to journalists after plenary confirmed that the Red Chamber received the correspondent, but noted that no definitely time is given for his return.

Mr. Buhari had written on Sunday to the two chambers of the National Assembly, informing them that his earlier date of arrival, Monday 6th February, could no longer hold following advice by his doctor for him to receive the outcome of the series of medical tests done.

It would be recalled that Mr. Buhari traveled to UK Sunday, January 19, 2017 and billed to return Monday, February 6, 2017 for annual vacation and routine medical check- up.

Following lack of information about his state of health, there has been speculations about the medical condition of the president with reports suggesting that he might be in critical condition.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo however claimed on Monday that the president is “hale and hearty.”
