Presidency Warns Staffers Against Leaking Official Letters

By Sadiq Umar – The Presidency has warned its staffers to desist from leaking official secret, saying anyone found to engage in such act would face serious consequence.

Specifically, it warned against exposing official letters to the public.President Muhammadu Buhari

Chief of Staff (COS) to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari gave the warning Monday night in Abuja, during a send forth, retirement and redeployment of some State House staff.

Kyari emphasized that any of the State House staff caught indulging in the habit, including sitting on files of people or organizations, would face sanctions.

According to COS who stressed that the Presidency would not tolerate leaking of official letters, letters have been leaked in recent time, adding that one of such (leaked letters) with his signature.

“I do not know who that is; I do not know why anyone should do that. But please make sure that does not happen,” the COS warned..

He frowned at situation where official letters would be leaked to the public even when it has not been officially released.

“It is not a secret, but it is a bad habit for letters to be leaked before it is made public by the relevant authorities, he said.

Kyari warned the State House staff not to fall into trap of “somebody asking you to bring a letter, because if by accident you are found or the letter traced to you, clearly it would not be something that we would tolerate.”

The COS also advocated for discipline and dedication among the State House workers, as well as cautioned against gossips and allowing the official works to suffer due to negligence.
